Crazy Covid
November 23, 2020
The history books will definitely be recorded 2020. COVID-19 has been one of the craziest and emotion jumbling events that have not only changed America but the whole world. Some people have gotten so worried about the virus that they are taking therapy for “corona phobia.” Others have taken matters less seriously and refused to wear masks or physical distance. And, some people are in between. Either way, COVID-19 puts a big burden on the world with virtual school, quarantines, masks, and physical distancing.
COVID-19 shows up in both obvious and unnoticed ways. The most common symptoms are cough, shortness of breath, fever, ache, sore throat, and loss of taste/ smell. These are all common, but those with COVID-19 don’t always have all of these symptoms. Many of these symptoms are not abnormal for those with asthma, the common cold, or allergies. This is why some people have a hard time knowing if they have the virus, and can put others in danger. One person who had COVID-19 stated, “some symptoms will go away and then will come back. I cough only at night twice and it stopped so I thought it must be a cold or allergies.” Five days later, she tested positive. Others have made excuses like being congested, having allergies, or just having a cold. This might be the case for some, but people should still be careful using masks and social distancing, just to keep others safe.
Another excuse for not being careful is “I’m not going to die if I get Covid. People my age don’t even show symptoms.” Although this may be true for someone, they’re still going to pass it on to someone vulnerable. People with heart problems, asthma, or are very young/ old have a high risk.
In conclusion, COVID-19 is changing our world, and whether we like it or not, we need to adapt, be flexible, and careful, for the safety of everyone.
